The climb begins around midnight. Under a star-filled sky, you start ascending the steep volcanic slopes using a headlamp. The terrain is challenging, consisting of loose volcanic ash and rock, making this one of the most demanding climbs in East Africa. After approximately 5–7 hours of ascent, you reach the summit just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Lake Natron, the Rift Valley, and even Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance on clear days. At the crater rim, you will observe the unique active lava formations (depending on volcanic activity), a rare natural wonder found nowhere else on Earth. You then descend back to base camp for rest and recovery. Day 4: Relaxation & Departure After the intense climb, this day is for relaxation and optional short excursions around Lake Natron.
